Four Asian expatriates have died from carbon monoxide poisoning after inhaling exhaust fumes inside a running vehicle in Al Musannah in Oman’s South Al Batinah Governorate, according to the Royal Oman Police.

Authorities said emergency teams responded to a report in Al Musannah, where the four individuals were found dead inside the vehicle.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims suffocated after inhaling toxic gases from the vehicle’s exhaust while the engine was left running in a closed or poorly ventilated space.

Following the incident, the Royal Oman Police issued a public safety warning, advising residents against sleeping inside vehicles with engines running or leaving vehicles operating in enclosed spaces.

They warned that exhaust fumes can quickly cause fatal carbon monoxide poisoning, especially in areas with poor ventilation.
