First phase of the Al Mamzar Beaches project completes expanded, world-class waterfront development.

DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has opened Khor Al Mamzar Beach, marking the first phase of the Al Mamzar Beaches development project.
Now open to residents, visitors, and tourists, the destination adds to Dubai’s growing portfolio of leisure and tourism assets. It underscores the emirate’s continued focus on developing high-quality public spaces that enhance quality of life while supporting long-term urban development and tourism growth.
The move aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to expand the emirate’s beaches and infrastructure in response to rising demand, while supporting Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s best city to live in by 2040.
The beach was inaugurated by Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, in the presence of several directors general from various Dubai government entities.
The opening ceremony was attended by residents of Al Mamzar and Deira, along with media representatives and influencers, and included a variety of community-focused entertainment and interactive activities.
Marwan bin Ghalita highlighted that the expansion of Dubai’s infrastructure reflects the leadership’s vision to create high-quality destinations for both residents and visitors.
He said Dubai continues to prioritise human wellbeing in its urban development plans, supported by integrated recreational and service facilities that improve quality of life and strengthen the emirate’s position as a global destination of choice.
“Khor Al Mamzar Beach reflects Dubai’s vision to transform its beaches into globally iconic urban and tourism destinations, offering premium experiences focused on comfort and wellbeing,” he said.
“Our goal is to develop some of the world’s most advanced and attractive beachfront destinations, strengthening Dubai’s appeal, sustainability, and quality of life while delivering exceptional experiences for both residents and visitors.”
For his part, Badr Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said: “Khor Al Mamzar Beach is one of Dubai Municipality’s flagship strategic projects aimed at improving coastal infrastructure efficiency and redefining the beachfront experience as a vibrant, all-day destination. Its opening marks an important milestone in delivering high-quality public beaches that combine design excellence, integrated experiences, and community engagement, further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading destination for beach tourism and lifestyle experiences.”

Dubai Municipality has prioritised the development of the Al Mamzar Beaches to accommodate rising visitor demand, which is expected to reach 7 million annually upon completion of the second phase at Al Mamzar Corniche. The destination features a wide range of leisure, service, and tourism facilities designed to ensure high-quality experiences while remaining accessible to People of Determination.
Khor Al Mamzar Beach has undergone a major transformation, including the expansion of the swimming shoreline to 3.6 kilometres — a 128% increase — along with the introduction of a 300-metre night beach that operates 24/7, allowing continuous access throughout the day and evening.
The destination also features the region’s first floating walkway, as well as more than 5.5 kilometres of running, walking, and cycling tracks. Additional facilities include an outdoor gym, beach volleyball court, padel courts, and a variety of marine and water-based activities such as kayaking and other water sports.
The sandy beachfront area has been expanded by 110% to 182,000 square metres. Public facilities have increased by 400% to a total of 20, alongside eight recreational amenities. Food and beverage outlets now stand at 19, marking a 950% increase, with further investment opportunities currently being developed.
In terms of safety, Dubai Municipality has upgraded infrastructure by 340%, introducing an integrated system that includes 12 lifeguard towers and 12 emergency call points, strengthening the beach’s position as a fully equipped and safe public destination.
As part of its commitment to public-private partnerships and SME growth, Dubai Municipality will provide leasing and investment opportunities, inviting operators, businesses, and entrepreneurs to participate in the long-term development, vibrancy, and sustainability of the destination.
The Al Mamzar Beaches are part of a broader beachfront development portfolio valued at AED 3 billion under Dubai’s comprehensive public beach master plan. This includes developments at Al Mamzar Corniche and Jumeirah 1, as well as planned upgrades across Jumeirah 2, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and Jebel Ali Beach.
The project aligns with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 by enhancing public spaces, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and supporting community wellbeing. It also contributes to the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan by advancing beachfront development and strengthening urban infrastructure, while aligning with the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030.
Overall, Al Mamzar Beaches represent a next-generation beachfront model for Dubai — moving beyond traditional waterfront concepts to create an integrated destination that delivers long-term social and economic value.
