Dubai Municipality has finalized Phase 1 of its project to enhance the sewerage and stormwater network in Al Quoz.

Dubai Municipality has completed Phase 1 of the Sewerage and Stormwater Network Development Project in the Al Quoz Creative Zone, one of Dubai’s most active economic areas, at a cost of Dh250 million. The total project investment stands at Dh500 million.

The project is designed to create an integrated, flexible, and sustainable sewerage and stormwater system serving Al Quoz Industrial Areas 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as the region between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

Covering about 1,600 hectares and more than 1,507 plots, the development aims to significantly improve infrastructure capacity and long-term urban resilience in the area.

Phase 1 involved the construction of sewerage and stormwater drainage networks spanning 155 hectares and covering 123 plots.

Supporting the emirate’s sustainable sewerage infrastructure, Dubai Municipality constructed a 15-kilometre sewerage network with pipe diameters ranging from 160 mm to 1,600 mm.

The works also included an integrated 14-kilometre stormwater drainage system, featuring pipes with diameters between 200 mm and 3,000 mm.

The project is part of the emirate-wide Sewerage System Development Programme, which aims to transform the network into a more sustainable, innovative, and efficient infrastructure system.

It also aligns with the Tasreef Programme, a Dh30 billion initiative and the largest unified stormwater collection system in the region, designed to enhance drainage capacity by 700% over the next 100 years.

Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita said the Al Quoz Sewerage and Stormwater Network Development Project is a key strategic initiative to improve the efficiency, resilience, and operational readiness of the emirate’s infrastructure systems.

He added that the project supports Dubai’s ongoing urban and population growth, strengthens its position as a global leader in sustainable urban planning, and enhances the city’s long-term livability, sustainability, and global attractiveness.

He added that the project improves the efficiency of sewerage and stormwater infrastructure in the Al Quoz Creative Zone and supports its integrated urban model. It is expected to further enhance the area’s attractiveness as a dynamic hub for economic and investment activity, while aligning with the emirate’s future development needs.

Adel Mohammed Al Marzouqi said the project helps improve the efficiency of the rainwater drainage system and ensures smooth water flow in the area, reducing water accumulation. He noted that this supports uninterrupted services and business operations while strengthening the city’s resilience and readiness for future climatic conditions.

Dubai Municipality continues to implement major infrastructure initiatives aimed at boosting environmental resilience, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring service continuity alongside urban and population growth.

These efforts support Dubai’s transition toward a smart and sustainable city model, in line with national strategies and leadership goals to position the city as a global benchmark for infrastructure quality and public services.
