NCM predicts partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rain through Monday.

Dubai: UAE authorities have issued safety warnings and revised speed limits as a low-pressure system brings unsettled weather and scattered rainfall to the country, a pattern expected to continue through Monday.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) confirmed on Thursday that an extension of surface low pressure, combined with a weak upper-air system, is triggering convective cloud formations across several regions. Forecasts indicate partly cloudy to cloudy skies with intermittent rain, accompanied by light to moderate winds that may stir up dust in exposed areas.
Police implement variable speed limits to enhance road safety.
In response to the changing weather, Abu Dhabi Police have activated variable speed limits across major motorways. Drivers are advised to follow the revised limits displayed on electronic overhead signs, which are generally lowered during periods of low visibility or heavy rain to reduce the risk of hydroplaning and multi-vehicle collisions.
“We urge everyone to exercise vigilance and caution during rainfall,” a spokesperson for Abu Dhabi Civil Defence said on social media. “Residents should avoid areas prone to flash floods and water accumulation, particularly near valleys and dams.”
Extended weather forecast
Similar conditions are expected on Friday and Saturday, with intermittent rainfall and strengthening winds that could stir up dust and reduce visibility in exposed areas.
On Sunday, cloud cover is likely to persist, with ongoing chances of rain and occasional stronger winds that may affect horizontal visibility.
By Monday, skies are expected to remain partly cloudy, with light rain possible over eastern and southern regions, accompanied by intensifying dusty winds in the afternoon.
7 weather-related traffic fines every motorist should know
The recent weather changes have prompted federal traffic authorities to remind drivers of strict enforcement of safety regulations. Police have highlighted seven specific violations that could result in significant fines during this period:
- Entering flooded valleys or waterlogged areas.
- Gathering near dams or valleys to observe floodwaters.
- Obstructing emergency services during weather-related incidents.
- Distracted driving, including using mobile phones to film or take photos.
- Misuse of hazard lights, which should only be activated for stationary emergencies.
- Ignoring temporary speed limits displayed on electronic boards.
- Making unsafe lane changes without indicators in low-visibility conditions.
