Reckless driving endangers both the driver and other road users, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have warned motorists about strict penalties for reckless behaviour that puts lives at risk, highlighting dangerous acts such as opening car doors while vehicles are in motion and filming social media videos on the road.
The warning comes as part of the force’s strategic priority to promote “smart road safety,” with authorities stressing that such actions can lead to serious accidents and endanger both drivers and other road users.
Police said such behaviours are clear violations of traffic laws and pose a direct threat to public safety, urging motorists to act responsibly and follow safe driving practices at all times.
They added that road safety is a shared responsibility, and that the pursuit of online fame does not justify risking lives. Authorities also stressed that firm legal action will be taken against offenders.
Under UAE traffic regulations, endangering the lives of others carries a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points on the driver’s licence, and vehicle impoundment for 60 days. Motorists must also pay Dh50,000 to reclaim the impounded vehicle.
