As the US‑Israel‑Iran war enters its 19th day on Wednesday, 18 March, pharmaceutical authorities in the UAE reassured the public that the nation’s strategic stockpile of medicines and medical supplies is secure and sufficient, underscoring the country’s preparedness to meet demand despite regional tensions.
The UAE’s strategic stockpile of medicines and medical supplies is secure and sufficient to meet the needs of the local market, the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) confirmed.
Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Director-General of EDE, has carried out field visits to several pharmaceutical factories across the country as part of the organisation’s proactive strategy to maintain the sustainability and resilience of the UAE’s pharmaceutical ecosystem.
During her visits, Dr. Al Kaabi was briefed by factory officials on current production capacities, upcoming expansion plans, and the advanced manufacturing technologies in use, all aligned with the highest international standards of quality and safety.
Dr. Al Kaabi added: “The UAE’s pharmaceutical sector is stable and well-prepared, supported by an advanced regulatory framework that guarantees the continuous availability of medicines to the community while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.”
She emphasised that the Emirates Drug Establishment is committed to fostering an integrated regulatory environment that encourages research and development, while continuously enhancing oversight and regulatory policies according to global best practices to ensure the safety, quality, and effectiveness of locally produced medicines.
These visits form part of the EDE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with the industrial sector, build an innovative and sustainable healthcare ecosystem, and reinforce the UAE’s status as a leading regional hub for healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
