Pharmaceutical security is a key pillar of healthcare, says the Emirates Drug Establishment.

Dubai: The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) on Wednesday affirmed that the UAE’s pharmaceutical stockpile remains secure and sufficient amid ongoing Iranian aggression.
Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State and Chairman of EDE’s Board of Directors, confirmed that the UAE’s pharmaceutical sector is highly stable and well-prepared, emphasizing that the country’s strategic reserve of medicines and medical supplies is adequate to meet local demand.
Al Hajeri added that the UAE has implemented world-class policies and strategies to maintain a strategic stockpile, ensuring the availability of all essential medicines for citizens, residents, and visitors in sufficient quantities and for extended periods.
National priority
The minister emphasized that bolstering pharmaceutical security is a firmly established national priority, backed by a comprehensive strategic vision to ensure the sustainable availability, quality, and safety of medicines under all circumstances.
Al Hajeri added that the Establishment adopts a proactive approach grounded in risk assessment and emergency planning, strengthening preparedness and boosting public confidence in the country’s pharmaceutical system.
Meanwhile, Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Director General of the Emirates Drug Establishment, highlighted that the sector maintains high levels of stability and readiness, ensuring the continuous supply of medicines and medical products with long-term availability, in line with the highest standards of quality and safety.
Daily monitoring
Dr. Al Kaabi explained that the Establishment carries out daily field monitoring, tracking the movement and stock levels of medicines at factories, warehouses, and storage facilities through integrated systems in coordination with strategic partners.
She noted that this approach ensures the uninterrupted availability of essential medicines and prevents shortages of critical products, with pharmaceutical supply chains across the UAE operating normally.
Dr. Al Kaabi added that current availability indicators for medical products remain stable and reassuring, thanks to effective forward planning and strong collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, relevant authorities, and the private sector.
She highlighted that pharmaceutical security is a fundamental pillar of healthcare in the UAE, noting that the Establishment follows a forward-looking strategy to ensure sustainable medicine supplies and maintain the health sector’s readiness to handle all scenarios.
