The company is set to extend Dubai Taxi services to Abu Dhabi, Ajman, and Sharjah.

Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) will explore cryptocurrency as a new payment option for its customers and could introduce it soon, the company’s chief executive said.
“The idea is to give customers more choices when it comes to payment methods,” said Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, CEO of Dubai Taxi Company. “Of course, we’re going to explore a cryptocurrency payment solution with our regulator, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). We could see it available very soon as one of the payment gateways for our customers.”
The UAE continues to lead in adopting new technologies. Earlier this month, AE Coin was recognised as a payment method for all federal government authorities, marking the first time in the region that a regulator-licensed stablecoin has been authorised for nationwide government-fee payments.
The UAE continues to lead in adopting cutting-edge technologies. The nation’s first Central Bank–licensed, fully reserved, AED-backed payment token, available through AEC Wallet, is powered by Al Maryah Community Bank (Mbank).
In November 2025, the Central Bank of the UAE approved Zand, the country’s AI-powered digital bank, to launch Zand AED, the first regulated, multi-chain AED-backed stablecoin on public blockchains.
Last year, IHC, ADQ, and First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) also announced plans to issue a new Dirham-backed stablecoin, fully regulated by the Central Bank and issued by FAB (subject to regulatory approval).
Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) CEO Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi said the cryptocurrency payment option could be introduced “very soon,” though no exact date was disclosed.
First autonomous taxis
On Tuesday, Dubai Taxi reported a 7% year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching Dh356.1 million in 2025.
Alfalasi confirmed that autonomous taxis will be rolled out next month. “We are going to have, for the first time, autonomous taxis and vehicles in our fleet. The first trip will start next month. Our target this year is to roll out 50 to 100 autonomous vehicles, and we’ll assess further expansion later,” he said.
Earlier this month, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, officially launched fully autonomous RT6 taxi operations developed by Baidu Apollo Go, as part of Dubai’s smart mobility ecosystem.
Expanding to other cities
In an interview, Alfalasi noted that Dubai Taxi will expand services in partnership with Bolt to Abu Dhabi, while also targeting Ajman and Sharjah this year. He added that Dubai Taxi plans to add 2,000 bikes, creating an equal number of new job opportunities.
