Attack in Karachi PSX building, Four gun men killed

A gun and grenade attack at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi on Monday claimed the lives of two civilians, authorities said, adding that law enforcement agencies have gunned down all four militants that stormed the building and opened indiscriminate fire.

The gunmen attacked the building with grenades and guns, media reported. The building is in a high security zone and also houses the head offices of many private banks as well as the State Bank of Pakistan.

“Four attackers have been killed, they had come in a silver Corolla car,” Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon told 

Polcie said militants launched a grenade attack at the main gate of the PSX and stormed the building after firing indiscriminately, reported

A police officer and the security guard stationed outside the PSX building were also injured in the attack.

People inside the PSX building were evacuated from the backdoor.

Confirming the attack in a tweet, PSX Director, Abid Ali Habib said: “An unfortunate incident took place at the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

“They (terrorists) made their way from our parking area and opened fire on everyone.”

Inspector-General Karachi said that the situation was under control and all militants had been killed in the attack.

He said that Rangers and police officials had entered the building and were conducting a search operation.

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail strongly condemned the terror attack, instructing security agencies to catch the assailants alive so that they are brought to justice along with their handlers.

It was not immediately clear if there are more assailants at large.
