2nd batch of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine reached in Oman

Around 16,000 people have already been vaccinated.

Muscat: The COVID-19 vaccination campaign that is going on seamlessly across the Sultanate of Oman is all set to continue with the same momentum as the second batch of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine reaches the country.

This batch of 11,700 vaccine will be used to supplement the coverage of the same target group as the first. The target group among the general community has been identified as those over 65 years of age and with diabetes as well as those with chronic lung disease or suffering from kidney failure.

Among the health care workers, the target group comprises of those working in the ICU, staff working in COVID wards, and those medical staff who have diabetes, chronic lung disease and those requiring dialysis.

As of today around 16,000 have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in Oman which covers 57 per cent of the target group.

The communication released by Oman’s Ministry of Health today appreciated the enthusiastic participation of both the residents and citizens alike in taking the vaccine.

The vaccine is bring administered at around 40 centres across Oman. Within the Muscat governorate the centres that are open for this are Al Seeb Specialised Polyclinic, Bausher Specialised Polyclinic and Quriyat Polyclinic.
