How to make the most of your Friday and Saturday. Khaleej Times  recommends…

Malecon reopens

As one of the highlights of the Dubai Marine Beach Resort, Latin American hotspot, Malecon, will be returning to the scene, bringing back its energetic atmosphere that has had everyone around town going loco since 1999. Expect a new look, menu and up-beat entertainment.

BBQ Saturday

As the summer heat subsides, there’s no better way to round off the weekend than with a lazy sunset BBQ at Dubai’s favourite – Barasti Beach. Backed by a resident DJ, Barasti Beach BBQ launches October 5 from 5pm to 8pm at Barasti Beach Shack. Three house bevs & a BBQ plate is Dh149.

Groovy times

The region’s biggest electronic music festival Groove On The Grass returns for its eighth season this weekend at Emirates Golf Club; kicking it off in style with heavy-hitting headliners including Acid Pauli, Los Angeles legend Egyptian Lover and, for the very first time in the UAE, Palms Trax. What a coup!

Game time

Grab your friends because Operation Mindfall, an augmented reality game, is on at the Rove Downtown Dubai until November 2. From 1pm to 10pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, teams of two to five can take part in the ultimate Escape Hunt adventure, for Dh99 per person.

DJ Luciano

Weekends are about to get even wilder at Dubai’s super-club, with the launch of BASE’s new house night tonight, and every Thursday for the rest of the season. Award-winning DJ Luciano is set to hit the decks for the grand launch of house night as he kicks off his residency in style with a ladies’ night.

Adopt a pup

To celebrate World Animal Day, The Pet Shop, will host a range of activities at its Dubai Investment Park store from October 4 to 5 including two adoption days in partnership with Stray Dog Center UAQ and Kittysnip: dogs on Friday at 10am-3pm and cats on Saturday from 12pm-5pm.

Aza Trunk Show

The style shows are coming thick and fast and this weekend we can look forward to Aza Fashions, India’s premier multi-designer retailer, bringing its Trunk Show to Dubai in collaboration with NUMAISH Lifestyle Exhibitions. The show will be held at the Shangri-La, Dubai on October 4 and 5 from 11am-7pm. Expect collections by designers including Manish Malhotra, Anamika Khanna, Tarun Tahiliani, Anita Dongre, Vikram Phadnis and Nakul Sen amongst many others.

Free yoga

If you’re in the mood for yoga, how about some free yoga and Pilates sessions on Friday and Saturday, featuring popular local yogis Allaoua Gaham and Dina Cassir to kickstart the new season? At The Outlet Village, Dubai, weekend sessions are set to continue until October 19 at 9.30am and 10.30am respectively for your morning fitness fixes.
