Weather alert: Thunderstorm to hit UAE tomorrow.

Date:

Rains of ‘different intensities’ have been forecast until Friday.

The UAE will receive more rains accompanied by thunder and lightning this week, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has said. Rains of “different intensities” have been forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The NCM said temperatures will drop on Wednesday and Thursday across the country. Strong winds will blow up sand, causing “poor to very poor visibility”.

The centre also predicted “rough to very rough seas” till Thursday. Wind speeds are expected to hit 70kmph tomorrow.

The lowest temperature recorded over the country today morning was 11.9°C in Jais Mountain at 12am. Temperatures will range from 27°C to 31°C in the interior regions, 28°C to 32°C along the coast and 18°C to 22°C in the mountains.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, meanwhile, has urged residents to follow instructions from the authorities concerned during the unstable weather “in order to preserve lives and properties”.

Heavy rains lashed the country last week, with water entering sections of The Dubai Mall. The thunderstorm had wreaked havoc across the country, with roads being flooded, schools closing early and even disrupting flights at the Dubai International Airport.
