Drivers who commit serious offences may face fines of up to Dh50,000 to retrieve impounded vehicles, Dubai Police have warned.
Dubai Police traffic patrols recently impounded a vehicle after it was found engaging in reckless stunt driving, including tyre screeching and deliberately increasing noise levels.
The driver was stopped, identified, and summoned by the police. He later admitted to the violations. As a result, the vehicle was impounded and legal action was taken against him.
Brigadier Essam Ibrahim Al Awar, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, warned that noise from modified vehicles and stunt driving is not just a traffic violation, but a disruptive behaviour that affects public comfort and the stability of residential neighbourhoods.
“This behaviour endangered the driver’s life as well as the lives, safety, and security of others. It also caused noise disturbance to residents and damaged public property in the Oud Al Muteena area. Such reckless traffic behaviour posed a danger to road users and created chaos and disruption in the area,” he said.
He added, “It disturbs families and creates fear and anxiety among road users, especially when such acts are repeated in residential areas.”
He further stressed that such behaviours are serious violations that Dubai Police deals with firmly due to their impact on traffic safety and public peace. He reiterated that roads are not meant for stunts or dangerous experimentation, and that any misuse will lead to strict legal accountability, including vehicle impoundment.
He also pointed to Local Decree No. 30 of 2023, which imposes fines of up to Dh50,000 for the release of impounded vehicles linked to serious violations.
