UAE weather forecast: Rain clouds, dust and temperatures nearing 49°C expected this weekend

Date:

UAE summer weather remains unstable with afternoon rain and soaring temperatures.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE is heading into another period of unsettled summer weather, with rain-producing convective clouds expected to develop over eastern and southern areas on Friday before extending into some inland regions over the weekend, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Friday’s forecast indicates fair to partly cloudy conditions, with afternoon cloud build-up bringing the possibility of rainfall in parts of the east and south.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds are expected, occasionally strengthening and causing dust to blow across exposed areas, with reduced visibility possible in some locations.

Wind speeds are forecast to range between 10 and 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h.

Temperatures are forecast to climb to 45°C–49°C in inland areas, while coastal regions and islands may see highs of 41°C–46°C. Mountain areas will remain relatively cooler, with temperatures ranging between 34°C and 40°C. Sea conditions are expected to stay slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue through the weekend. On Saturday, convective clouds are likely to develop over eastern and southern areas before moving into some inland regions, bringing a chance of rainfall. Winds may become stronger at times, reaching 50 km/h in some areas and leading to blowing dust and reduced visibility.

A similar weather pattern is expected on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and afternoon convective cloud development over parts of the east and west before spreading inland. Rainfall remains possible, while fresh to strong winds reaching 50 km/h could lead to blowing dust and reduced visibility in affected areas.

By Monday, the possibility of convective clouds and localised rain will continue in parts of the east and south. Winds are expected to gradually ease, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h.

Weather conditions are forecast to become more settled on Tuesday, with fair to partly cloudy skies across the UAE. Winds will vary from southeasterly to northwesterly at times, reaching speeds of up to 35 km/h, while sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
