NCM forecasts convective clouds, dusty winds and scattered showers across UAE through Saturday.
Dubai: Temperatures across the UAE are expected to soar to 50°C in inland areas today, while afternoon convective clouds may bring scattered rainfall to parts of the country’s interior, eastern and southern regions, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM forecast partly cloudy conditions in general, with light to moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h. Winds could strengthen at times, reaching 45 km/h inland and 35 km/h in coastal areas. Gusty winds linked to convective clouds may lead to blowing dust and reduced visibility in some exposed areas.
Temperatures are expected to range between 45°C and 50°C inland, 42°C to 47°C along the coast and islands, and 33°C to 39°C in mountainous areas.
Sea conditions are forecast to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
The current weather pattern is being influenced by an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east, along with an upper-air low-pressure system, creating favourable conditions for localised convective cloud formation over the coming days.
Similar conditions are expected to continue through Saturday, with afternoon convective clouds and chances of rainfall mainly over eastern and southern areas. Winds may strengthen at times, reaching up to 40 km/h, potentially causing blowing dust and reduced visibility. Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
