UAE weather: Five days of rain expected, with blowing dust, fog and temperatures hitting 42°C

Date:

NCM predicts showers through Thursday, with winds reaching up to 50km/h.

Dubai: The UAE is set for five days of unsettled weather, with rainfall expected in parts of the country, strong winds reaching up to 50km/h and blowing dust, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

In its latest weather bulletin issued today, the NCM forecast partly cloudy skies, with convective clouds forming over eastern and southern regions during the afternoon, bringing a chance of showers.

The unsettled conditions are being driven by an extension of a surface low-pressure system, accompanied by a low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere.

Winds are expected to be light to moderate, occasionally becoming fresh to strong during cloud activity. Speeds could reach 45km/h in mountainous areas, 40km/h across inland regions and 35km/h in coastal areas.

Temperatures are forecast to climb to 42°C in inland areas, while coastal regions and islands will see highs ranging from 34°C to 39°C. Mountainous areas are expected to record temperatures between 28°C and 33°C.

Humidity levels are likely to rise overnight and into Tuesday morning, increasing the possibility of fog or mist forming over some coastal areas.

Rain chances to persist through Thursday

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said rain remains possible on Tuesday and Wednesday, as convective clouds develop over eastern regions and spread towards parts of the country’s inland and western areas during the afternoon.

Winds could intensify to 50km/h on both days, raising dust and potentially reducing visibility in open and exposed areas.

Humidity is also expected to increase overnight, with fog or mist likely to form in some coastal and inland locations.

On Thursday, partly cloudy skies are forecast to continue, with convective clouds forming over eastern and western regions during the afternoon, bringing another chance of rainfall.

Winds could reach speeds of up to 40km/h, causing blowing dust in some areas.

By Friday, conditions are expected to improve, with generally fair to partly cloudy skies, although cloud cover may increase at times over eastern and western parts of the country.

Humidity levels are forecast to rise overnight and into Saturday morning, creating favourable conditions for fog or mist in some western coastal areas. Winds could reach 35km/h.

Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman throughout the forecast period.
