UAE schools to implement distance learning during Ramadan.

Date:

UAE schools will switch to distance learning one day per week during Ramadan, the Ministry of Education has announced.

The ministry confirmed the return of the “Ramadan with the Family” initiative.

According to a post on X, every Friday during the month will be designated as a distance learning day for all public school students.

The only exception applies to students with exam schedules approved for Fridays during Ramadan.

This will mark the second consecutive year that remote learning is implemented for public school students across the UAE.

On X, the Ministry of Education noted that the policy aligns with 2026 being the Year of the Family in the UAE.

The Ministry of Education issued a statement highlighting the continuation of the “Ramadan with the Family” initiative for 2026, aimed at fostering a family atmosphere during Ramadan:

  • Every Friday during Ramadan will be designated as a distance learning day for public school students.
  • A comprehensive guide will be provided, featuring educational and extracurricular activities aligned with the curriculum.
  • These activities are designed to support academic progress, reinforce the values of the holy month, and strengthen family and community bonds.
  • Educational staff will continue working at schools on Fridays. Parents may pick up their children and are responsible for their transportation to and from school.

Earlier, Dubai announced flexible hours and remote work for public sector employees during Ramadan, allowing them to work from home or follow adjusted schedules.

According to the latest moon sighting predictions, Ramadan 2026 is expected to begin on Thursday, February 19.
