Talks focus on infrastructure financing, capital markets, tax cooperation and global governance.

Dubai: The UAE has called for stronger financial cooperation among BRICS nations and greater representation for emerging economies in global financial institutions at the first BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting held under India’s 2026 presidency.
Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, is representing the UAE at the two-day meeting in Jaipur, which brings together finance ministers, central bank governors, and heads of regional financial and development institutions.
The discussions focus on the global economic outlook, infrastructure financing, public-private partnerships, tax and customs cooperation, capital markets, and reforms to global economic governance.
UAE calls for stronger voice for emerging economies
Al Hussaini urged continued efforts to advance reforms aimed at boosting productivity, attracting private investment, and strengthening domestic capital markets.
He also highlighted the need to expand development financing and reform international economic governance to ensure emerging and developing economies have a fairer voice in global financial institutions.
“BRICS provides an important platform for advancing multilateral action and developing shared responses to global economic and financial challenges,” Al Hussaini said.
He added that the UAE supports building on the work of technical groups and maintaining momentum behind initiatives launched during India’s presidency. Such efforts, he said, would help strengthen long-term financial cooperation among BRICS members and contribute to a more balanced and inclusive global economic system.
Infrastructure and private capital in focus
The UAE is showcasing national initiatives in public-private partnerships, sustainable infrastructure financing, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, climate finance and private capital mobilisation.
The UAE is also contributing to BRICS technical discussions on developing domestic financial markets.
The meeting is exploring ways to deepen cooperation among member states in addressing global economic challenges, with a particular focus on strengthening the resilience of emerging and developing economies.
New Development Bank talks
The UAE is taking part in several high-level events on the sidelines of the meeting, including a seminar examining the New Development Bank’s role in mobilising private capital across BRICS countries.
A separate workshop on resilient growth in emerging economies is focusing on risk financing and infrastructure resilience, with the aim of strengthening countries’ ability to withstand growing economic and financial risks.
The BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting is being held on August 12 and 13 under India’s 2026 presidency.
