The U.S. Embassy in the UAE has lifted its “shelter-in-place” order for employees after recent missile and drone attacks stopped.
In an update, it said staff can resume normal movement but must be prepared to take immediate shelter indoors if any new aerial threat arises. The same guidance applies to all U.S. citizens in the UAE.
Despite the relaxed restrictions, the U.S. has kept its travel advisory for the UAE at Level 3, advising citizens to reconsider travel.
The embassy and consulate continue under ordered departure status, with non-essential staff relocated outside the UAE. Consular services are limited, and routine U.S. visa processing remains suspended.
U.S. citizens needing assistance, including passport services, are advised to use the embassy’s online U.S. Citizen Services Navigator.

- Ensure travel documents are valid, up to date, and easily accessible; contact authorities if your U.S. passport is lost or nearing expiry.
- Maintain a low profile and stay alert to your surroundings.
- Closely follow instructions from local authorities.
- Keep your mobile phone charged and preloaded with emergency contacts.
