An Asian taxi driver is on trial for allegedly molesting a passenger after she slept in his cab.
Documents of the Dubai Public Prosecution revealed that the victim, a 31-year-old European woman, got in a taxi in the Dubai Media City area and sat in the front seat next to the driver. She asked him to take her to her home in Dubai Silicon Oasis, and then fell asleep.
Suddenly, she found herself in an under-construction area with no one else around. She found the 25-year-old driver opening the door, molesting her and trying to kiss her. The woman pushed him away and yelled at him. After that he went back to the driver seat, and drove her home.
Additionally, she said that the driver threatened her by saying that he knew she was drunk and could have called the police, but didn’t.
After she arrived at her destinations, she took down the number of the cab and called the Roads and Transport Authority and reported the incident. The RTA directed the woman to call the police.
According to a witness from Dubai Police, the driver said that the woman tried to tease him first and touched his arm first. After she slept, the man disconnected the camera inside the taxi, parked the vehicle in a quiet place and molested her.
The public prosecution referred the driver to the Dubai criminal court.
