The event showcased social inclusion and celebrated the distinctive talents of children within the community.

Over 200 guests, including families, community leaders, and distinguished personalities, gathered at the Khalidiya Palace Hotel in Dubai for a special Ramadan Iftar dedicated to the UAE’s People of Determination.

Organized by JYK Community Services in collaboration with Westfield Event Management, the evening aimed to highlight the importance of social inclusion and celebrate the talents of children within the community. Amid broader regional uncertainties, the organisers emphasized that the event was held as a symbol of resilience and a reaffirmation of the UAE’s values of stability and compassion.

A Message of Resilience
“Many suggested postponing this event due to the current situation,” said Juhi Yasmeen Khan, Founder of JYK Community Services. “However, I felt this was exactly the moment to showcase the true spirit of the UAE—a nation where people stand together with confidence and hope. By moving forward with the Iftar, we wanted to send a clear message: we are united, and we are safe.”

The proceedings began with a Quranic recitation by Nilofer Saleem, a young woman of determination, who later shared her delight at being part of the annual gathering. The event, hosted at the Khalidiya Palace Hotel and managed by Mourouj Gloria, featured a specially curated menu for the guests. Various local organisations contributed practical support, including Aster Clinic, which offered complimentary health check-ups for families, and henna artists from Aroushi Beauty Salon, who created traditional festive designs for attendees.

Symbols of Gratitude
In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, the children presented supporters with hand-signed tokens, including sapling pots and wooden lighthouses. Distinguished attendees included UAE social media personality Khalid Al Ameri and veteran Bollywood actress Kalpana Iyer, who was honoured with a lifetime achievement recognition by the youngsters.

“Standing together with People of Determination and their families creates meaningful moments that inspire hope,” Ms. Iyer remarked during the event.

Corporate and Community Support
The evening also highlighted support from the private sector. JYK Community Services and Westfield provided families with essential items, including grocery packages, hygiene kits, and educational toys. Although unable to attend in person due to travel disruptions, Keisaku Nishida, CEO of Westfield Event Management, issued a statement reaffirming the company’s commitment to initiatives that “uplift communities and celebrate the extraordinary spirit of People of Determination.”

As the holy month continues, such gatherings remain a key part of the UAE’s social calendar, reflecting a national focus on the empowerment and inclusion of all members of society.
