Special Dubai number plate sold for Dh2.44 million

Proceeds of the 102nd open distinctive number plates public auction amounted to over Dh25 million.

A special number plate was sold for a staggering Dh2.44 million during a public auction held by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel on Saturday.

Proceeds of the 102nd open distinctive number plates public auction amounted to Dh25,138,000.

Number plate T 50 topped the auction and was sold for AED2.44 million followed by L 21, bearing Expo logo, which brought back Dh2.34 million.

About 100 eye-catching licensing plates of two, three, four and five digits were also offered in the auction. Plates on offer were of diverse codes. Twenty of them were released bearing the Expo 2020 logo

Through offering distinctive licensing plates at open or online auctions, RTA is seeking to provide a neutral and transparent platform that avails fair opportunities to number plate enthusiasts. Participating clients seek to avail numbers of symbolic reference to important events and occasions in life.
