Online and call-centre services introduced for registering residents’ and visitors’ vehicles.
Sharjah City Municipality has introduced a residential parking permit system in Al Fisht, Sharqan and Al Rifa’a, with designated spaces reserved for residents and measures in place to prevent misuse.
The municipality has also launched a comprehensive inspection campaign across the three neighbourhoods to curb parking violations, particularly cases where motorists leave their vehicles outside residential properties to avoid public parking fees.
Inspectors are informing vehicle owners that the designated residential spaces are exclusively for residents and warning that violators could face legal and administrative action.
Hamed Al Qaed, Director of the Public Parking Department, said the municipality is closely monitoring residents’ feedback and complaints concerning parking arrangements in residential areas.
He added that a dedicated team of inspectors is working across the neighbourhoods to detect violations, issue warnings and ensure motorists comply with the approved parking regulations.
Al Qaed said the initiative is intended to minimise inconvenience for residents while maintaining the appearance and organisation of residential areas.
The municipality said it is committed to ensuring residents have access to designated parking spaces at all times while also improving traffic flow within residential communities.
Al Qaed noted that indiscriminate parking by non-residents creates inconvenience for residents and affects the overall appearance of neighbourhoods. To address the issue, the municipality has introduced administrative and legal measures aimed at preventing such violations.
He added that the inspection campaign will remain ongoing and could be extended to other residential areas in the future.
How residents can register
Residents of Al Fisht, Sharqan and Al Rifa’a can register their vehicles for residential parking permits through the municipality’s website. The registration system will allow inspectors to identify authorised vehicles and confirm their eligibility during routine inspections.
Visitor parking registration available
The municipality has also launched a service that allows residents to register vehicles belonging to their visitors. Residents can call the municipality’s 993 call centre and provide the required vehicle details.
Once registered, visitors will be permitted to use designated residential parking spaces in line with the approved regulations.
