10-day Umrah initiative for workers marks a decade of support, benefiting 5,061 people.

Sharjah: Five hundred workers are being given the opportunity to perform Umrah during a 10-day pilgrimage organised by Sharjah Charity International, as part of its efforts to make the religious journey accessible to those who may not be able to afford it.
Launched on Tuesday, the campaign falls under the association’s ‘Facilitating Umrah’ initiative, which supports various groups in society, including workers, cancer patients, outstanding students at Al Qasimia University and underprivileged families.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, Executive Director of Sharjah Charity International, said the initiative was designed to benefit people from diverse backgrounds rather than focus on a single group.
Over the past decade, the association’s Umrah campaigns have enabled 5,061 people to perform the pilgrimage, highlighting its continued efforts to expand the programme and reach more beneficiaries.
The latest 10-day trip will allow the workers to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
Supervisors have been assigned to accompany participants throughout the journey, explaining the rituals, answering questions and providing guidance to help them complete the pilgrimage smoothly and with peace of mind.
Bin Khadem also thanked philanthropists and donors for their continued support of the association’s charitable projects and initiatives throughout the year.
He said their generosity was essential to sustaining the organisation’s humanitarian work and bringing happiness to beneficiaries across the community.
