Saudi Arabia and Portugal have signed an agreement exempting holders of diplomatic and special passports from visa requirements, a move aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and facilitating official travel between the two countries.
The agreement was signed in Lisbon by Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Paulo Rangel, according to Saudi state media.
The agreement is expected to facilitate travel and communication for holders of diplomatic and special passports, while strengthening coordination and expanding cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Portugal in areas of shared interest. It also reflects both countries’ commitment to deepening bilateral relations and enhancing collaboration across a range of diplomatic, economic and strategic fields.
The agreement comes as Saudi Arabia and Portugal work to deepen diplomatic ties and enhance cooperation through closer official engagement and exchanges between the two countries.
No details have yet been announced regarding when the visa waiver agreement will formally take effect.
