Safety first: Ajman intensifies efforts to reduce pedestrian accidents

Date:

Authorities roll out awareness campaigns and digital outreach initiatives through the end of March.

Ajman: Ajman Police has launched its first sub-campaign of the year titled “Pedestrian Safety”, reinforcing its commitment to reducing road accidents and protecting lives.

Organised by the Traffic and Patrols Department, the initiative began on February 9 and will run until the end of March as part of the force’s 2026 traffic awareness plan. The campaign aims to strengthen road safety culture, reduce pedestrian-related accidents and create a safer traffic environment for all road users.

Lieutenant Colonel Fouad Yousef Al Khaja, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said the campaign forms part of Ajman Police’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness across all segments of society.

He emphasised the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations, particularly using designated pedestrian crossings and remaining fully attentive while crossing roads. Motorists, he added, must slow down near crossings and give priority to pedestrians.

“Pedestrian safety remains one of our top priorities,” Lt Col Al Khaja said, noting that the campaign will feature on-ground awareness programmes, distribution of educational leaflets, and digital outreach through social media platforms and the official website.

Ajman Police will also collaborate with strategic partners to ensure the message reaches community members effectively.

Lt Col Al Khaja urged the public to cooperate with the campaign and strictly follow traffic guidelines, stressing that road safety is a shared responsibility requiring commitment from both drivers and pedestrians.
