The Dubai Civility Committee commended the resident for taking initiative and promoting civic responsibility.

Dubai: A Dubai resident has been recognised by the Dubai Civility Committee after reporting an unclean directional sign at a Dubai Metro station, with officials praising the action as an example of civic responsibility that helps maintain the emirate’s high-quality urban environment.
Tanveer Ahmed was honoured in the presence of Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairman of The Executive Office of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Chairman of the Dubai Civility Committee, along with Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Deputy Chairman of the committee.
The committee said Ahmed’s initiative highlighted the important role residents play in preserving Dubai’s distinguished image and enhancing the overall public experience.
Ahmed said he was driving along Sheikh Zayed Road when he noticed that a directional sign pointing to World Trade Centre Metro Station had become dirty, affecting its visibility for motorists. He immediately contacted the RTA to report the issue.

“I received a response on the same day, and by the following day, the sign had been replaced,” Ahmed said. “As a UAE resident, I am genuinely proud to be part of this community. I never expected such recognition for a simple action.”
Al Gergawi praised Ahmed’s initiative, saying the committee values residents who notice even the smallest details and show genuine care for the city. He added that such efforts strengthen Dubai’s culture of shared responsibility and support the leadership’s vision of establishing the emirate as one of the world’s most refined and civilised cities.
