However, attention quickly shifted to his post-match actions, as he did not join his teammates—led by coach Jorge Jesus—for the runners-up medal ceremony and instead headed directly to the dressing room alone.
The moment quickly went viral on social media, dividing opinion among fans.
Many criticised Ronaldo’s actions, calling them poor sportsmanship and questioning his leadership as captain. Critics argued that finals are decided collectively and that leaving during the medal ceremony sent the wrong message, particularly in a major tournament final.
Others, however, defended the 41-year-old icon, arguing that his refusal to acknowledge second place reflects the same uncompromising mentality that helped define his career as one of football’s greatest winners. Supporters said it demonstrated an athlete who simply hates losing above all else.
The defeat also added another difficult chapter to Ronaldo’s trophy record since joining Al Nassr FC.
Despite continuing to score goals at an elite level, the Portuguese forward has now lost four major finals with Al Nassr FC since joining the club three years ago.

Still, Al Nassr’s season is not over yet.
Al Nassr FC and Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates remain in pole position to win the Saudi Pro League title. Al Nassr are currently two points ahead of rivals Al Hilal SFC heading into the final matchday, meaning a win against Damac would secure Ronaldo his first major official trophy in Saudi football.
