Riyadh airport launches ‘Silent Airport’ initiative to reduce terminal announcements

Riyadh Airport’s Terminal 5 embraces digital updates for a quieter travel experience.

Dubai: King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has launched the first phase of its “Silent Airport” initiative at Terminal 5, cutting back on public announcements to create a quieter and more comfortable environment for passengers.

Under the initiative, general announcements will be reduced and largely confined to departure gates, while passengers will increasingly use digital screens and other electronic channels to access flight information.

The gradual transition aims to create a quieter terminal environment while ensuring passengers continue to receive essential flight information through digital channels and targeted announcements.

Passengers can check flight updates through the airport’s website, digital signage and WhatsApp service at 920020090. The airport’s “Ask Me” customer service team will also be available to assist travellers.

The initiative will be rolled out gradually, with details of additional phases to be announced later.

The first phase at Terminal 5 marks a shift towards greater reliance on digital communication, while retaining targeted announcements at departure gates when necessary.
