Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak describes Emirati women as ‘the continuation of a cherished journey, a treasured trust in the nation’s present and a promise for its future’

The Mother of the Nation, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, early on Friday extended her wishes to the “daughters of the UAE” on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day in a heartfelt message.

The mass text message reached mobile phones at around 7.30am, marking the start of the celebrations with a warm and joyous tribute to Emirati women.

In the heartwarming message, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi described Emirati women as the “continuation of a cherished journey, a treasured trust in the nation’s present and a promise for its future”.

In her message, Sheikha Fatima told Emirati women that they are pillars of the nation and urged them to remain true to the values that have shaped their journey.

“Always remain as the UAE has known you: true to your values, proud of your nation, proactive in your contributions, and confident that when ambition is paired with responsibility, it creates an enduring impact.”

Sheikha Fatima also paid tribute to the men and institutions that have supported Emirati women and helped open “doors of opportunity” for them.

“In the spirit of the Union, we will emerge stronger and better,” she added.

She closed her message by reminding Emirati women of their central role in the country’s future.

“The UAE has always moved towards the future with unity and shared purpose, firmly believing that people are its greatest investment, and that women are the heart of society, a pillar of its progress, and active partners in shaping the future of the most precious of nations — the United Arab Emirates.”

This year, the UAE will mark Emirati Women’s Day with a month-long programme, with celebrations beginning on August 28, 2026.

The announcement was made earlier by Sheikha Fatima, who said in a message to Emiratis: “As the horizon of ambition expands with you and through you, our celebration this year will not be limited to a single day.”

Observed annually on August 28, Emirati Women’s Day has become an important occasion to reflect on the progress made by women, renew commitments to equality and celebrate their achievements across the UAE.
