Kuwait praises UN for taking a stand against Iranian human rights violations.

GENEVA: Ambassador Nasir Al-Hayen, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, expressed the GCC Group’s approval of the UN Human Rights Council’s unanimous adoption of a resolution condemning Iranian attacks in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the GCC Group after the resolution’s adoption, Al-Hayen noted that the decision reflects a spirit of cooperation within the Council in addressing issues with direct and serious human rights implications.
The Ambassador highlighted that the consensus demonstrates a shared international recognition of the importance of addressing these attacks, especially in protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure, while upholding relevant international obligations.
Al-Hayen clarified that the resolution explicitly condemns Iranian aggression against the GCC states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, emphasizing the serious impact on individuals’ fundamental rights. He reaffirmed the importance of the Council’s ongoing role in monitoring the issue within its mandate.
The Kuwaiti diplomat also expressed the GCC states’ gratitude to the more than 100 countries that co-sponsored the resolution, noting that such broad support reflects the strength of international consensus.
He concluded by reaffirming the GCC’s commitment to building on this consensus and collaborating with all delegations to strengthen the Council’s role in addressing human rights issues through shared responsibility and constructive cooperation.
