UAE buyers may need to spend more than ever on Apple’s latest iPhone.
Apple has long built its brand around offering premium devices that deliver a seamless user experience. However, if early forecasts prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could push UAE buyers to spend significantly more than before — and the higher upfront price may only be part of the story.
A price increase driven by chip costs
According to GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could be priced $250 to $300 higher than their previous-generation models. The expected increase is linked not only to Apple’s premium positioning, but also to rising production costs, including next-generation 2-nanometre chips, more expensive DRAM and NAND memory, and supply chain pressures as artificial intelligence companies compete for advanced components.
Based on this forecast, the iPhone 18 Pro could rise from an expected starting price of $1,099 to between $1,349 and $1,399. The iPhone 18 Pro Max could increase from $1,199 to around $1,449–$1,499.
Apple has not confirmed pricing, and the devices have yet to be officially launched. However, previous Apple product forecasts have often provided an indication of the direction pricing may take.
What it could mean for UAE buyers
Applying the projected price increase to current UAE pricing suggests a significant jump for local customers. The 256GB iPhone 17 Pro currently starts at Dh4,699, while the Pro Max model is priced from Dh5,099.
If the forecasted increase materialises, the iPhone 18 Pro could launch at an estimated Dh5,799 to Dh5,999, while the Pro Max could approach the Dh6,199 to Dh6,399 range.
These figures are only estimates and have not been confirmed. Actual UAE pricing could vary depending on factors such as VAT, currency fluctuations, and Apple’s regional pricing strategy.
The price tag is only the starting point
The headline price of a new iPhone is rarely the full cost for many buyers.
Most customers do not remain with the entry-level configuration. Storage upgrades can significantly increase the final bill, and with high-resolution 4K videos, expanding photo libraries, and larger mobile games becoming more common, additional storage has become an important consideration for users planning to keep their devices for several years.
Beyond the phone itself, accessories can add further costs. Cases, screen protectors, MagSafe chargers, wireless earbuds, and power banks may each seem like small additions, but together they can substantially increase the overall expense of upgrading.
When things go wrong

Repairs for flagship devices, such as replacing a cracked display or a damaged camera system, can come as an unpleasant surprise for owners. This makes protection plans and extended coverage worth considering as part of the overall ownership cost rather than an expense added later.
The costs can also continue beyond the initial purchase. For many users, owning an iPhone now includes spending on services within Apple’s ecosystem, including additional iCloud storage, Apple Music, streaming subscriptions, fitness apps, and occasional premium app purchases. While none of these services are essential, they can gradually add to the total cost.
So, is the upgrade worth it?
The iPhone 18 Pro range is expected to introduce a newer processor, camera enhancements, display improvements, and longer battery life. Whether those upgrades justify a higher price will depend largely on how each user relies on their device.
For photographers, gamers, and content creators, the improvements could offer meaningful benefits. But for users who mainly use their phones for messaging, browsing, social media, and occasional photography, the difference may feel less significant.
Beyond the price tag
When the iPhone 18 Pro Max eventually arrives, many buyers will focus first on the headline price and quickly decide whether it is worth the cost. But the figure displayed on the box has never represented the complete expense.
