Indian schools in the UAE declare early end-of-year holidays for students.

Date:

Parents and students have been assured that, despite the changes, the continuity of education will remain unaffected.

With exams completed, online sessions concluding, and schedules for the new academic year in place, Indian schools across the UAE are working to balance safety, flexibility, and academic standards, offering reassurance to students and parents during uncertain times.

Across the UAE, schools are revising their academic calendars, granting students an early end-of-year break while keeping exams and results on schedule.

Headteachers in Indian curriculum schools emphasized that parents and students are being assured that, despite the adjustments, the continuity of education will remain uninterrupted.

At Shining Star International School, Principal Abhilasha Singh confirmed that exams concluded on Friday, March 6. “Our examination period began on February 16, and both primary and secondary students have now completed their assessments. Last week’s exams were conducted online, so there was no disruption to the students’ examination schedule,” she said.

She added that teachers will continue working remotely as they compile and finalise results, while closely monitoring developments during these uncertain times.

Exam schedules adjusted

In Dubai, Springdales School Principal David Jones explained that students were already midway through Term 3 exams when the earlier spring break was announced.

“In Indian curriculum schools, we do not typically observe a spring break. Instead, we conduct end-of-year examinations, after which students go on their term break,” he said.

To accommodate the revised schedule, remaining exams will be conducted online between 9 am and 10 am, with question papers tailored so students can complete them within an hour. Grades 6 to 8 will sit for Mathematics, Science, and English exams starting tomorrow.

Jones also noted that bridge classes for students moving into Grades 10 and 12 will begin on Monday. “These are crucial academic years, so the bridge sessions will be held online for these students,” he explained. Retests, he added, will only be conducted in genuine medical emergencies, ensuring the integrity of the examination process.

Retests and academic calendar

In Ras Al Khaimah, Indian school authorities announced that Zoom classes concluded on March 6, and students will enjoy a spring break until March 30, after which the new academic year will begin.

Key dates for the upcoming academic year, including summer and winter vacation schedules, were shared in advance to help families plan ahead.

A school circular stated, “Retests are scheduled to start on March 23, with a detailed timetable to be shared with parents soon.”
