Fake Shell recruitment scam doing rounds in Dubai

Date:

There is a fake recruitment scam doing its rounds in Dubai. They send you an email with is supposedly from Shell Oil and Gas company or from Ministry of Energy and Industry offering you a job. This is a fake job scam! There is no job! Do not send documents or money!

If you are not interviewed face to face or in person, the job offer is always a scam! If you are asked to pay fees for a visa or work permit or anything else, the job offer is a scam! No real company or embassy ever uses a free email address!

The recent scam has been done by some Africans pretending to work as team recruitment team for Shell oil company or The Ministry of Energy and Industry. MoEI responded to a number of emails that circulated across the UAE, which allegedly offered contracts of employment or other benefits.

Dubai residents and overseas job seekers have been warned not to fall for fake emails claiming to offer jobs in return for personal information or cash.

Some of the fake emails also carried the ministry’s logo, or a ministry employee’s
email address, and requested job hunters to send their personal details, contact
information or money.“These emails do not emanate from MoEI or from any of its employees, and are not in any way associated with [the ministry’s] activities. MoEI cautions the public to be vigilant with these and other similar solicitations that falsely claim association with MoEI,” said the ministry in a statement.
