UAE Team ADQ Dominates Trofeo Oro in Euro with Elisa Longo Borghini Victory

UAE Team ADQ delivered a commanding performance at the Trofeo Oro in Euro Women’s Bike Race, with Elisa Longo Borghini claiming first place.

The team controlled the 106.8 km one-day race, placing four riders in the decisive six-woman breakaway. Behind Borghini, Karlijn Swinkels finished second, Dominika Wlodarczyk third, and Silvia Persico fourth, while Paula Blasi and Erica Magnaldi took ninth and tenth, respectively. Remarkably, all six UAE Team ADQ riders in the race finished in the top 10.

The Trofeo Oro in Euro is a professional women’s one-day road cycling race held annually in Montignoso, Italy. Its name, which translates to “Gold Trophy in Euro,” reflects the symbolic value of the trophy rather than a monetary prize. The long-distance race forms part of the international women’s cycling calendar.

UAE Team ADQ is a professional women’s road cycling team based in the UAE, representing the country on the global stage and featuring riders from multiple nations.

The team has operated under various names since its founding in 2011 and was rebranded as UAE Team ADQ in 2022 after Abu Dhabi investment company ADQ became its principal sponsor.

In this year’s Trofeo Oro in Euro, UAE Team ADQ immediately set out to make the race selective. On the first ascent, they imposed a punishing pace that caused a significant split. At the front, Elisa Longo Borghini led alongside teammates Silvia Persico, Karlijn Swinkels, Dominika Wlodarczyk, and Paula Blasi, with only Puck Pieterse of Fenix–Premier Tech able to match their rhythm.

In the following kilometers, UAE Team ADQ riders repeatedly attacked and countered to try to shake off their rivals. The decisive move came on the final ascent of La Fortezza, when Elisa Longo Borghini—fresh off a fourth-place finish at Strade Bianche the previous day—launched a powerful acceleration.

With 14 km remaining, Longo Borghini surged ahead of the breakaway, executing her move with composure and control, remaining seated as she powered up the twisting climb.

She broke away from the rest of the field and secured her third victory of the season, capping off an exceptional performance by UAE Team ADQ.
