Dubai Ride Unveils First-Ever Dress Your Ride Contest With Dh10,000 Prize Up for Grabs

Date:

Dubai Ride Returns on November 1 for Its Sixth Edition, Turning Sheikh Zayed Road Into a Massive Cycling Track.

Cyclists participating in this year’s Dubai Ride will have an exciting new opportunity to showcase their creativity, with the inaugural Dress Your Ride competition offering Dh10,000 in each of four prize categories.

Awards will recognise the best overall bicycle, most creative theme, best family costume and best group costume.

Participants can enter by decorating their bicycles, wearing imaginative costumes or combining both. To be considered for the competition, riders must pose for official event photographers, who will capture entries during the event.

Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, will return for its sixth edition on Sunday, November 1, transforming Sheikh Zayed Road into a massive cycling track.

Thousands of cyclists are expected to take part, riding past some of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks, including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera.

The event has grown significantly since its launch in 2020. Last year, more than 40,000 cyclists participated, representing more than twice the turnout recorded during its inaugural edition.

Dubai Ride will serve as the opening flagship event of the 10th Dubai Fitness Challenge, scheduled to run from October 31 to November 29.

Launched in 2017 by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative encourages residents and visitors to complete 30 minutes of physical activity daily for 30 consecutive days.

Across its first nine editions, the Dubai Fitness Challenge has attracted more than 16 million participants.

Dubai Ride routes and registration details

The free community cycling event will feature two main routes designed for riders with different levels of experience.

12km Sheikh Zayed Road Route

Designed primarily for more experienced cyclists, this route takes participants along Sheikh Zayed Road, offering views of landmarks such as the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal and Burj Khalifa.

Cyclists can access the route from several designated starting points, including the Museum of the Future, Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay and Lower Financial Street.

4km Downtown Family Route

The shorter route offers a flat, family-friendly cycling experience around Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa.

It is suitable for young children, families and cyclists of varying abilities, providing an accessible way for the community to participate.

Dubai Ride is a recreational event rather than a competitive race, and cyclists must observe the designated speed limit of 25km/h.

Will professional cycling speed laps return?

During the previous two editions, experienced cyclists were given the opportunity to complete high-speed laps along Sheikh Zayed Road for one hour before the main community ride began.

The special segment was restricted to riders aged over 21, who were required to maintain an average speed of 30km/h.

Participants followed the 12km Sheikh Zayed Road course, travelling from Dubai World Trade Centre towards Safa Park and returning along the same route.

All riders taking part in the speed laps had to leave the course by 6am to allow preparations for the wider community event.

However, organisers have not yet confirmed whether the professional speed laps segment will be included in this year’s Dubai Ride.

How to register for Dubai Ride

Participation is free, but advance online registration is mandatory for safety and security purposes.

Cyclists can sign up through the official Dubai Fitness Challenge website at dubaifitnesschallenge.com.

Parents and legal guardians may register up to three children and must complete the required consent and waiver forms for participants under the age of 18.

After completing online registration, participants must collect their official race bib from the Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village at Zabeel Park.

Bib numbers and event T-shirts will be available for collection from October 28 to 31.
