Spokesperson Alreem AlRedha discusses the growing shift toward chef-driven dining concepts and more.

As Dubai Restaurant Week approaches its conclusion in just over a week, the spotlight is once again on Dubai’s dynamic culinary landscape, reinforcing its position as a global gastronomy hub.

Speaking to, Alreem AlRedha, Assistant Manager of Leisure Events and Festivals at Dubai Economy and Tourism, said the annual initiative helps showcase the diversity, creativity, and depth of the emirate’s food scene.

A culinary melting pot on every plate.

AlReem AlRedha said one of the defining characteristics of Dubai’s dining scene is its cultural fusion, shaped by the city’s highly diverse population.

She noted that Dubai is home to around 200 nationalities, and this diversity is strongly reflected in its culinary landscape. Chefs in the city frequently blend ingredients and cooking techniques from different parts of the world, creating a food scene rich in global influences—one of Dubai’s key strengths in the F&B sector.

This diversity, she added, continues to inspire chefs and restaurateurs to experiment, innovate, and blend culinary traditions in ways that reflect Dubai’s cosmopolitan identity.

More than just dining

AlReem AlRedha also pointed to a shift in what diners in Dubai are seeking when they eat out.

She said residents and visitors increasingly value the full dining experience, not just the food itself, but also the venue, service, storytelling, and the inspiration behind the dishes. According to her, this growing focus on immersive experiences has become a defining trend in the city’s food scene and is expected to continue evolving in the years ahead.

This focus on immersive dining experiences has reshaped Dubai’s hospitality sector, encouraging restaurants to place equal emphasis on storytelling, ambience, and atmosphere alongside flavour.

A platform for culinary growth

Now in its latest edition, Dubai Restaurant Week has become a key platform for both homegrown and international dining concepts.

AlReem AlRedha said the initiative aims to raise awareness of the city’s diverse restaurant scene. She added that such campaigns help position Dubai as a leading global gastronomy destination.

This year’s edition of Dubai Restaurant Week features more than 100 restaurants serving over 25 cuisines, including Michelin-starred venues, homegrown concepts, and internationally recognised names.

She said the initiative has helped increase footfall across participating restaurants while also contributing to a broader boost in the city’s economy in Dubai.

The rise of experiential dining

Looking ahead, AlReem AlRedha believes the next phase of the city’s food scene will be shaped by experience-led and chef-driven dining concepts.

“People nowadays care a lot about the chefs behind the dishes and the stories behind them,” she said. “The inspiration behind why they choose a particular cuisine or start a restaurant is becoming increasingly important. It’s more about interaction and understanding that side of the experience.”

She added that this growing curiosity is expected to shape the next three years of growth in the F&B sector across Dubai.

A resilient hospitality future

Despite global uncertainties, AlReem AlRedha expressed confidence in the continued strength of Dubai’s hospitality industry.

“The hospitality sector will continue to remain resilient,” she said. “Dubai will continue to position itself as a leading destination for tourism, investment, and world-class dining experiences. Dubai is resilient, and it will continue to grow stronger and better year after year.”

As Dubai Restaurant Week comes to a close, it offers a clear snapshot of the city’s evolving dining landscape—becoming increasingly global, experience-driven, and continuously shaped by new culinary concepts opening across the emirate.
