One defendant was fined Dh100,000, and the court ordered the confiscation of the vehicle in a case involving illegally installed equipment.

Abu Dhabi: An Abu Dhabi criminal court has sentenced two men after finding them guilty of violating public order by illegally fitting a vehicle with emergency warning systems designated for authorised emergency services.
The court sentenced the first defendant to six months in prison, fined him Dh100,000, and ordered the confiscation of the vehicle used in the offence. The ruling followed a finding that he had driven a vehicle equipped with emergency warning lights on a public road without obtaining the required legal approval.
The second defendant was found guilty of assisting in the installation of the emergency system despite lacking the legal authorisation required to install or use such equipment.
According to the court, the case involved the illegal installation of emergency warning devices that are reserved exclusively for authorised emergency vehicles, in violation of regulations governing their use.
The ruling highlights the UAE’s strict enforcement against the unauthorised installation or use of emergency vehicle equipment, which authorities have warned could endanger public safety and disrupt road order.
