Dubai’s RTA issues clarification on smart parking meters, ticket displays

Date:

Motorists who park in areas where smart meters are not installed can pay via the app or SMS.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Monday issued a clarification on displaying of parking tickets on the windscreens of cars in Dubai.

The authority said that vehicles parked in areas where “new smart blue-coloured parking meters with interactive screens” are installed need not display tickets.

These meters enable motorists to enter details of their vehicles and issue e-tickets, the RTA said.

The authority started the installation of these meters in early 2020.

“Parking users in areas where these new parking meters are not installed have to continue displaying their parking tickets on the windshields of their vehicles to avoid offences. However, parking fees can be paid through smart means like the smart app and text messages; which eliminate the need for displaying paper parking tickets in all areas,” the RTA said.
