Dubai logistics specialist secures round-the-clock renewable energy through rooftop solar.

Dubai: Ninja Group, a specialist in temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics, has commissioned a 355kW solar plant at its flagship facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), one of the region’s busiest industrial and logistics hubs. The project was developed in partnership with Sun Green Energy.
Cold-chain logistics is one of the most energy-intensive areas of the supply chain industry, as refrigeration and climate-control systems need to operate continuously throughout the year, regardless of external weather conditions.
For Ninja Group, the new solar installation is designed to offset up to 90 per cent of the facility’s constant electricity demand, providing a stable source of on-site power as utility costs across the region continue to rise.
The plant uses high-density, latest-generation solar cells engineered by Sun Green Energy to maximise electricity generation. The system has been designed to maintain peak performance for more than 30 years, positioning it as a long-term energy asset for the company.
“In the cold storage sector, energy efficiency is everything. Our 355kW solar plant not only stabilises our long-term energy costs but also ensures our cooling systems are powered by the sun. It’s a win for our operational bottom line and the planet,” said Lakhpat Kalwani, Company Director at Ninja Group.
Kalwani added that the project reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to build a future increasingly powered by clean and renewable energy.
He said the initiative also aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and its target of sourcing 75 per cent of the emirate’s power from clean energy sources.
Sun Green Energy said the project is part of its broader approach to developing long-term energy assets that give businesses greater control over their power supply while helping reduce electricity costs.
“We build long-term power assets for our clients, which assist them to be in control of their power source as well as saving their electricity bills,” the company said.
Established in 2016, Sun Green Energy is registered with DEWA, TRAKHEES, JAFZA and DCD. The company has completed more than 105 installations across the UAE and GCC, serving sectors including logistics, manufacturing and commercial real estate.
The Ninja Group project adds to a growing number of industrial and logistics operators in JAFZA adopting solar energy as they seek to manage rising energy costs while supporting Dubai’s broader sustainability goals.
