Date:

Signboards have been put up in the new paid parking areas to ensure that motorists will be informed of the fees and schedules.

A total of 1,300 parking spaces in Sharjah’s Al Nahda area have been added to its paid parking zones, the municipality has announced. The new slots were part of the plan to introduce 6,200 paid parking spaces in the first quarter of 2020.

Ali Abu Ghazeen, director of public parking department at the Sharjah Municipality, said 120 parking payment machines, 12 large instruction boards, and 600 small panels for SMS payment guides have also been installed as part of the project.

Thabit Salem Al Tarifi, director-general of the municipality, said the move comes as Al Nahda area is fast becoming a vital area for Sharjah as it witnesses significant growth.

Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, assistant director general of Sharjah Municipality, stressed the importance of allocating official parking spaces to ensure that these are used properly.

Signboards have been put up in the new paid parking areas to ensure that motorists will be informed of the fees and schedules, he added.

However on New Year’s Day, parking will be free – except in Al Hisn and Al Shuwaiheen areas, as well as Al Buhaira corniche, Jubail, bird market, Central Souq, Al majaz 1, 2, 3, and University City.
