Residents warned against unauthorised fireworks and urged to use candles and diyas safely.

As residents across Dubai prepare to celebrate Diwali, community management companies have issued fresh safety advisories, reminding households that setting off fireworks without the necessary licence or permit is strictly prohibited.
Dubai Holding Community Management (DHCM) and Emaar Community Management have urged residents to comply with local regulations and take precautions to prevent fire-related incidents during the festivities.
DHCM cautions residents against unauthorised fireworks
Dubai Holding Community Management has advised residents across its managed communities not to use fireworks or pyrotechnics unless they have obtained the required licence or permit.
The advisory applies to communities including Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Islands, Bluewaters, City Walk, Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Mudon, Villanova, The Villa and Discovery Gardens.
DHCM has also issued the following festive safety guidelines:
- Firework safety: Make children aware of the dangers associated with fireworks and ensure they do not handle them.
- Candles and diyas: Keep them at least 50cm away from flammable materials and never leave them burning unattended.
- Decorative lights: Avoid overloading electrical sockets or extension leads.
- Switch off lights: Turn off decorative lighting and outdoor displays before going to bed or leaving the house.
- Keep exits clear: Ensure corridors, entrances, staircases and emergency exits remain free of obstructions.
- Be considerate of neighbours: Keep music and noise at reasonable levels, especially during late hours.
- Dispose of waste safely: Discard used candles, decorations and other festive waste responsibly.
- Keep a fire extinguisher handy: Ensure one is readily accessible during celebrations.
Emaar reiterates prohibition on fireworks
In a separate advisory, Emaar Community Management has reminded residents in its managed communities that setting off fireworks during Diwali is prohibited under local authority regulations.
In a notice issued on November 6, Emaar called on residents to follow the rules and help ensure a safe and pleasant celebration for everyone.
The notice also highlighted precautions to follow when lighting candles and diyas at home:
- Keep candles and diyas away from flammable materials.
- Never leave burning candles or diyas unattended.
- Do not light candles or diyas in shared community spaces, as this is strictly prohibited.
Residents encouraged to celebrate safely
Dubai residents are being urged to follow community safety guidelines and refrain from setting off unauthorised fireworks during Diwali.
Taking care when using candles, diyas and decorative lighting can help reduce fire risks and ensure that families and neighbours enjoy a safe festive season.
