IN CINEMAS
Ramayana: Part One
One of India’s most enduring epics gets a grand cinematic makeover. Ranbir Kapoor stars as Rama, the prince whose life is shaped by duty and sacrifice, while Yash takes on the role of Ravana, an immortal ruler consumed by pride and vengeance, with the power to shake the cosmos. Sai Pallavi plays Sita, whose fate lies at the centre of the epic conflict. With a runtime of three and a half hours, this is a film to settle in for. Grab a comfortable seat, order the popcorn and make an evening of it. Out now.
Stray Kids World Tour
STAY, get ready for a concert experience on the big screen. For the first time, Stray Kids will bring a performance from their <RUN IT> tour at Tokyo Dome to cinema audiences around the world. All eight members – Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, HAN, Felix, Seungmin and I.N – will take the stage.
Expect high-energy choreography, powerful vocals, dazzling lasers and traditional Korean performance elements, with the show opening to “Hall of Fame”. A lightstick is optional, but sitting still might prove difficult. Think of it as a full-scale concert experience, with the added comfort of a cinema seat.
ON STREAMING
Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook (Apple TV)
Awkwafina is taking on a new challenge: learning how to cook. Her family once ran Lum’s, a Cantonese restaurant in Flushing, New York, and she now sets out to revive its legacy despite having very little experience in the kitchen. In fact, she openly admits that she cannot cook.
Across eight episodes, acclaimed chefs, established restaurateurs and family members guide her through the basics as she works towards becoming more confident in the kitchen. The result is a mix of humour, family stories and food that is likely to leave viewers hungry. The series premieres globally on November 6.
Minimum Wage (Netflix)
Short on time? This comedy is an easy addition to your watchlist. Set in a hectic neighbourhood pizza shop, the series follows teenage workers as they deal with demanding managers, chaotic rush hours and the everyday frustrations of service-industry life.
With episodes lasting around 12 and a half minutes, it’s ideal for a quick viewing break – although stopping at just one may be difficult. Based on the viral American High Shorts series, it offers a humorous take on the ups and downs of working a busy Friday-night shift.
The Gilded Age, Season 4 (OSN+)
The glamour of high society returns, along with its rivalries, power struggles and carefully guarded secrets. Bertha Russell has transformed New York’s social scene, but her rise has come at a price. Now, her family must deal with the fallout, while Agnes van Rhijn sees an opportunity to reclaim her former standing.
Meanwhile, George and Bertha’s marriage faces mounting pressure. Described by its cast as “ruthless” and “juicy”, the eight-episode fourth season promises another helping of lavish costumes, family tensions and social intrigue. Consider your Sunday evenings booked.
The Remarried Empress (Disney+)
Royal romance takes a dramatic turn in this lavish new Korean drama. Shin Min-a stars as Empress Navier, alongside Joo Ji-hoon as Emperor Sovieshu, Lee Jong-suk as Crown Prince Heinrey and Lee Se-young as Rashta.
Navier’s world is turned upside down when Sovieshu unexpectedly asks for a divorce. Rather than accept her fate, she makes an equally surprising request: permission to marry Heinrey. Adapted from a hugely popular webtoon that has attracted nearly three billion views, the series combines palace politics, romance and betrayal. New episodes arrive every Wednesday, with the finale scheduled for November 25, giving viewers time to catch up before the season concludes.
