Dubai Fountain Transformation Progresses as Spectacular New Water Features Emerge in Downtown Dubai.

Dubai: The world-famous Dubai Fountain is undergoing a visual transformation, with striking silver installations and cascading water features emerging at the popular Downtown Dubai landmark.
Videos recently shared on social media reveal several towering, reflective structures installed in Burj Lake, located between Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa.
The metallic installations feature elegant, curved sections resembling flower petals, with water flowing from the structures into the surrounding lake.
Their polished, mirror-like surfaces create an eye-catching display against the spectacular skyline dominated by the Burj Khalifa.
The sculptural designs appear to introduce a fresh architectural element to one of Dubai’s most recognisable tourist attractions.
However, installation work has not yet been completed.
Footage shows workers standing in the water and construction equipment positioned around the structures as crews continue making adjustments and completing the finishing work.
Despite the ongoing activity, the Dubai Fountain’s regular performances are continuing, allowing visitors to enjoy the attraction.
A limited section of the waterfront has been temporarily restricted to accommodate the installation work.
Are the New Water Features Part of Dubai Fountain’s Wider Transformation?
The appearance of the new silver structures comes as the Dubai Fountain continues a broader enhancement programme announced by its developer, Emaar.
The attraction reopened in October 2025 after being closed for approximately five months to undergo extensive refurbishment.
The initial phase of the renovation included improvements to the fountain’s infrastructure and appearance, including:
- Replacement and upgrading of tiling.
- Enhanced waterproofing systems.
- Repainting and surface improvements.
- Measures designed to improve durability and long-term operational performance.
Emaar previously announced plans for a second phase of upgrades in 2026, with the aim of introducing innovative features and enhancing the overall visitor experience.
However, the developer has not officially confirmed whether the newly emerging silver installations form part of those planned enhancements.
Details regarding the structures’ designers, their intended functions and the expected completion date have also not yet been publicly confirmed.
What Makes the Dubai Fountain One of the City’s Most Popular Attractions?
Developed by Emaar, the Dubai Fountain made its debut in 2009 and has since become one of the city’s most celebrated landmarks.
The attraction was designed by California-based WET Design, the company responsible for creating the renowned Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas.
Located in Burj Lake at the heart of Downtown Dubai, the fountain is widely recognised for its choreographed water performances, which combine movement, music and lighting to create an impressive spectacle.
With new sculptural water features now taking shape, the attraction appears set for another visual evolution, although the full scope of the latest additions remains to be officially announced.
The Dubai Fountain remains one of the emirate’s most iconic tourist attractions, renowned for its spectacular performances that bring together synchronised water movements, music and dazzling lighting effects.
Its powerful water jets can propel streams up to approximately 140 metres high, creating breathtaking displays choreographed to a selection of Arabic and international musical tracks.
According to Emaar’s official schedule, evening fountain shows take place every 30 minutes between 6pm and 11pm, alongside additional performances during the afternoon.
Visitors can continue enjoying the attraction’s signature water shows while the newly introduced waterfront installations gradually take shape, promising a refreshed visual experience at one of Downtown Dubai’s most popular landmarks.
