Dubai Basketball Suffer Their First Loss of the Season

Dubai Basketball’s Impressive Unbeaten Run Across the EuroLeague and ABA League Comes to an End.

Dubai Basketball suffered a disappointing defeat in Round 4 of the EuroLeague, falling 77–58 to Serbian side Crvena Zvezda at Coca-Cola Arena. The home team struggled to maintain its attacking rhythm against a disciplined and defensively strong opponent.

Dubai started the game positively, putting up a competitive performance in the opening quarter and keeping pace with the visitors during the early stages.

However, Crvena Zvezda gradually took control through efficient shooting and a solid defensive strategy, making it increasingly difficult for Dubai to create scoring opportunities.

Although the hosts managed to stay within reach during parts of the first half, they were unable to regain momentum after the break.

The Serbian side began the third quarter with eight consecutive unanswered points, extending its lead and putting Dubai under considerable pressure.

Crvena Zvezda continued to dominate as the game progressed, steadily widening the scoring margin before securing a convincing 77–58 victory.

Superior Shooting and Strong Defence Prove Decisive

Crvena Zvezda’s accurate shooting and organised defensive performance played a crucial role in determining the outcome, while Dubai Basketball struggled to find the offensive consistency needed to challenge the visitors.

Crvena Zvezda’s superior shooting accuracy played a major role in their victory over Dubai Basketball. The Serbian team converted 29 of their 66 field-goal attempts, recording a shooting percentage of 43.9%. In contrast, Dubai managed just 20 successful shots from 61 attempts, finishing with a field-goal percentage of 32.8%.

Dubai also faced difficulties from beyond the three-point line, making only five of their 22 attempts for a 22.7% conversion rate. Crvena Zvezda performed slightly better, scoring eight three-pointers from 30 attempts to register 26.7%.

The home side showed greater efficiency at the free-throw line, converting 13 of 16 opportunities for an impressive 81.2% success rate.

However, Crvena Zvezda held the advantage in rebounding, securing 41 rebounds compared with Dubai’s 36, helping the visitors maintain control throughout the contest.

Xavi Pascual Calls for Immediate Improvement

Dubai Basketball head coach Xavi Pascual expressed disappointment with his team’s performance, acknowledging that they had fallen short of expectations in several key areas.

Pascual congratulated Crvena Zvezda and their coaching staff on the victory but admitted that Dubai had delivered a poor performance across the 40-minute contest.

According to the coach, his side remained competitive during the opening 10 minutes before losing control of the game.

He highlighted the team’s defensive shortcomings, noting that Dubai had failed to reproduce the intensity and organisation displayed in previous matches.

Pascual also pointed to problems in attack, including insufficient ball movement, limited player movement, a lack of energy and poor shooting accuracy both inside and outside the three-point line.

His assessment underlined the need for Dubai Basketball to make significant improvements as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.

Dubai Basketball Aim to Return to Winning Ways

Following the disappointing result, Dubai Basketball will look to regroup and address the weaknesses exposed during their defeat to Crvena Zvezda.

Improving offensive coordination, increasing shooting efficiency and restoring their defensive discipline will be key priorities for the team.

The coaching staff will be hoping for a stronger response in the upcoming EuroLeague matches as Dubai aim to recover from their first setback of the season and regain their earlier momentum.
