Free Weekly Transport Arranged for Female Maritime Students Travelling Between Sharjah City and Khor Fakkan.

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has instructed authorities to arrange transportation for female students from Sharjah city enrolled at the Sharjah Maritime Academy’s Khor Fakkan branch.
Under the new directive, students will be provided with transport from Khor Fakkan to their family homes in Sharjah every Thursday for their weekly break. They will then be taken back to the academy on Sunday to continue their studies.
The decision came after a concerned father raised the issue during a phone call to the Direct Line programme, broadcast by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
During the call, the father explained that his daughter was pursuing a marine engineering degree at the academy and staying in student accommodation in Khor Fakkan.
He said he was required to travel from Sharjah city to Khor Fakkan every Thursday to collect his daughter and bring her home for the weekend. He then had to make another journey on Sunday to take her back to the academy.
According to the father, these repeated weekly journeys had become increasingly difficult to manage, placing an additional burden on him and interfering with his professional responsibilities.
In response to the father’s concerns, Sheikh Sultan promptly contacted the director of Sharjah Maritime Academy and instructed the institution to arrange transportation for female students travelling from Sharjah city.
The academy’s management is now working closely with the University City administration to establish how many students will benefit from the initiative and identify their residential areas.
These details will help the authorities coordinate and organise the transport service to meet the students’ commuting needs.
