UAE morning traffic alert: Delays reported on major Sharjah-Dubai routes

Date:

Motorists crossing the Dubai-Sharjah border are advised to allow extra travel time due to traffic delays.

Dubai: Morning traffic was building on several major routes connecting Dubai and Sharjah on Tuesday, with delays reported near two incidents as the return of schools added to the morning rush.

Schools across the UAE resumed classes on Monday, bringing school buses, parent drop-offs and increased commuter traffic back onto the roads. The start of the academic year is expected to contribute to heavier congestion, particularly during peak morning hours.

A real-time traffic snapshot from Google Maps showed congestion on several key routes across Sharjah and along the Dubai-Sharjah corridor. The map also showed incident markers at two locations, where traffic appeared to be moving more slowly.

One incident was marked on Al Wahda Street in Sharjah, with slower traffic reported in the surrounding area. A second marker appeared on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) near Sharjah Industrial Area, coinciding with delays along one of the region’s busiest commuter routes.

Congestion was also visible on parts of E311 around Al Nahda, Al Qusais and Muwaileh, with several sections highlighted in red on the map. Al Ittihad Road (E11) was also slow-moving around Al Nahda and Al Qusais, particularly along routes linking Dubai and Sharjah.

Sections of E88 and roads around Muwaileh and University City showed pockets of slower traffic, although traffic remained relatively smooth across much of the wider road network.

In Dubai, traffic around Dubai International Airport, Al Garhoud, Al Rashidiya and Mirdif appeared lighter, with most major routes shown in green.

Motorists travelling during the morning peak, particularly those crossing the Dubai-Sharjah border, are advised to allow extra time as traffic patterns adjust following the return of the academic year.
