The initiative acknowledges delivery riders’ vital contribution to the community while highlighting their role in supporting Dubai’s expanding delivery sector and broader economy.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has provided meals to delivery riders at temporary rest areas established at bus and metro stations in key locations across the emirate.
The initiative, organised in collaboration with the UAE Food Bank and Deliveroo, aims to recognise the daily efforts of delivery riders and their important role in supporting Dubai’s expanding delivery sector and the wider economy.
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, said the initiative reflects national efforts to protect delivery riders and support their health and wellbeing during the summer months.
The initiative also supports the Midday Break programme, which bans outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:30pm to 3pm between June 15 and September 15, in accordance with directives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Meals were provided daily at 23 bus and metro stations designated as temporary rest areas for delivery riders. These included Gold Souq, Al Satwa, Al Jafiliya, Al Qusais and Al Karama bus stations, along with Rashidiya, Al Furjan, DMCC, BurJuman, Ibn Battuta and e& Metro stations.
The locations were selected based on the number of delivery riders who regularly use the facilities.
Manal Obaid bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team at the UAE Food Bank, said delivery workers play an important role in the UAE’s economic and social life.
She added that the initiative reflects the Food Bank’s humanitarian mission while encouraging food conservation, reducing waste and promoting a culture of generosity and social responsibility.
“At the UAE Food Bank, we are committed to supporting humanitarian initiatives that serve noble causes and reflect the values of Emirati society,” Bin Yaroof said.
