CBUAE Issues Commemorative Coins to Mark International Youth Day

Date:

The coin weighs 60 grams.

To mark International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has issued a silver commemorative coin honouring the vital role of young people in shaping the country’s future and contributing to its sustainable development.

The 60-gram commemorative coin features a portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan on the obverse, alongside an excerpt from one of his Arabic poems reflecting his vision of empowering young people, encouraging initiative and hard work, and inspiring them to contribute to nation-building.

The reverse features an image of the CBUAE headquarters and carries a nominal value of Dh50.

Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor for Banking Operations and Support Services at CBUAE, said the commemorative coin reflects the UAE’s deep appreciation for its youth and their role in the country’s future.

He noted that the initiative draws inspiration from the vision of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who placed his trust in younger generations and viewed them as key partners in the nation’s development.

Al Dhaheri added that initiatives such as the coin issuance reaffirm the Central Bank’s commitment to strengthening national identity, raising awareness of young people’s role in supporting economic and financial stability, and encouraging their active participation in achieving the UAE’s future aspirations.

The CBUAE said it will announce the launch date of the commemorative coin and details on how to obtain it in due course through its official website and social media channels.
