5,000 health kits, medical screenings and safety guidance provided to protect riders from summer heat.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new campaign to protect delivery riders from the risks of extreme summer temperatures, in partnership with food delivery platform Keeta.
Titled ‘Safe and Healthy Summer for Delivery Riders’, the initiative will run throughout August and combines road safety awareness with health education measures. As part of the campaign, 5,000 health kits sponsored by Keeta will be distributed to riders, containing medical and protective supplies, along with hand fans and cooling towels designed to help reduce the risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Riders will also benefit from health screenings and awareness consultations provided in collaboration with the campaign’s partners.
Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Director of Traffic at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said the campaign supports RTA’s efforts to create a safer and more sustainable working environment for delivery riders, recognising their important contribution to Dubai’s economy and logistics sector. The initiative is also being implemented under the Ministry of Interior’s ‘Summer Without Accidents’ programme.
The campaign builds on RTA’s ongoing awareness efforts throughout the year. In 2025, RTA conducted more than 120 field awareness activities reaching over 17,000 riders, while safety messages shared through media and social media platforms reached more than 50,000 riders.
Al Khzaimy said these initiatives contributed to reducing fatalities involving delivery motorcycles from 35 cases in 2024 to 33 in 2025, despite continued growth in the number of delivery companies and riders operating in the sector.
The health risks faced by delivery riders during the summer months remain a serious concern. Al Khzaimy said heat exhaustion and heatstroke are among the most significant dangers for people working in high temperatures.
“Even a 2% loss of body fluids may affect concentration, reaction speed and the ability to make sound decisions while riding, according to the World Health Organisation,” he said, urging riders to stay hydrated, take adequate rest breaks and use suitable protective equipment.
Al Khzaimy also highlighted the contribution of private sector partners in supporting the campaign, saying collaboration on such initiatives strengthens corporate social responsibility and community partnerships.
He recognised the support of Keeta, along with Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar) and Protectol Health, for providing health and safety supplies that help advance the campaign’s community and humanitarian goals.
RTA’s awareness programmes now cover a delivery workforce of more than 70,000 riders across Dubai, reflecting the authority’s efforts to reduce road accidents and strengthen the emirate’s position as a leader in safe and sustainable transport as the sector continues to expand.
Colin Xu, Head of Logistics Operations at Keeta UAE, said the company views supporting delivery riders as a key part of its responsibility towards the communities it serves.
“We are proud to be part of this initiative led by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which demonstrates the importance of strong public-private partnerships in promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of delivery riders, especially during the summer months,” he said.
Xu added that Keeta’s contribution reflects its ongoing commitment to providing riders with practical support that enables them to work more safely and comfortably while helping build a more resilient, sustainable and responsible delivery ecosystem in Dubai.
